Combined Cadet Force

Cadet Training Syllabus How to Join

What is the Combined Cadet Force at Moor End Academy?

Students in the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) develop self-confidence and self-discipline through enjoyable military themed and adventurous activities.  Participation in the CCF empowers students to take responsibility and develops resourcefulness, endurance, perseverance and leadership.

The aim of the CCF is pupil personal development, it does not promote recruiting into the Armed Forces and there is no expectation to “sign up”.  Moor End staff are volunteers who lead large parts of the training, however, specialist training is led by a member of the Army Cadet Training Team.

Introduced in 2025, the Combined Cadet Force at Moor End Academy provides a safe environment where cadets can develop their personal skills as well as their ability to lead and work in a team. Both skills are useful in all walks of life, in the workplace, on the sports field and in other challenges the pupils may encounter in later life. At Moor End Academy we are badged to the Royal Army Medical Service meaning we also focus on first aid skills to support and highlight the role of this corps. Again, these skills are invaluable both inside and outside of school.

The core values of our Combined Cadet Force are:

  • Courage
  • Discipline
  • Respect for others
  • Integrity
  • Loyalty
  • Selfless commitment

Cadets will be expected to attend every Tuesday in well-presented uniform and will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities including:

  • Fieldcraft (how to live outdoors)First Aid training
  • Community Engagement
  • Drill (marching)
  • Weapon handling (how to safely conduct drills using a rifle)
  • Physical training
  • Expedition and Navigation
  • Military skills
  • ………….and much more.

Residential Training

One of the highlights for the cadets are training camps provided by the Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs). Staying on these camps gives the cadet the chance to make new friends, complete training qualifications that we are unable to do at school and try various activities in a safe environment.
