Dear Natasha,

A short note to thank you for taking time out of your day today to provide your insights into Moor End Academy. It was good to meet you.

Hearing your experience since joining Moor End, and having just experienced the other two academies this morning, it struck me on my drive back that visiting Moor End at the end of today was akin to witnessing a metamorphosis. I have no doubt that you have travelled a long road, but the results are evident, and I hope rewarding to you and your team.

I’ve come across many students internationally, and I must tell you that the interaction with yours today was world class, in comparison to some of the private international schools I’ve experienced. This is testament to you and your team, as was evidenced by their comments and the respect they feel for you.

Thanks again for stepping away from your important work, and I wish you all the best for the new academic year.

Mr Mark McGowan, Trustee, South Pennine Academies Trust

We are fortunate to have you as our lead school. The support that you are giving to us is excellent, through guidance with the audit and the thorough development of our action plan. It is clear to see that the culture that you have created at Moor End, is a product of a developed strategy that has been implemented over time. This has clearly had a significant impact on your staff and students!. What you said we would see was enacted everywhere around the academy.

It is not often that we visit schools, and a key issue is getting the students to collaborate with each other about the work, because they want to complete the work in the red zone. Again, a highlight that a respect for education is tangible at Moor End.

Mr Glen Bilton, Assistant Vice Principal Student Experience, Sirius Academy North

I am a very regular visitor to Moor End Academy,  invariably with visually impaired students.

Without fail I always find the school very welcoming, beginning at reception.  As I go around the school there is a very calm atmosphere with polite friendly students.  When passing numerous classrooms within my role the students always seem to be on task and working hard.

Kash Rafiq the principal always makes time to speak to my students which is echoed around the school at the appropriate time by many other members of staff.

It is always a pleasure to visit. Keep up the very high standards in all areas of the school!

Stuart Adams, Habilitation Specialist (QHS), Primary Specialist Provision for children with a Visual Impairment, Dalton JIN School

It was a pleasure seeing first hand how the hard work of the school’s outstanding leadership team, fabulous teachers and associated staff have succeeded in making the Academy thoroughly deserving of the coveted “Outstanding” assessment from Ofsted of Moor End Academy as an educational establishment. It was clear to see in the dedication of its staff how committed they are in providing the teaching, support and guidance to ensure their students achieve their aspirations. Pupils are imbibed with a culture of mutual respect, self-confidence and pursuit of excellence. Moor End Academy is an exemplar of a world class, high performing school.

Cllr Manisha Kaushik

Inspirational leadership, progress, and vision are in place. Kash Rafiq is doing a brilliant job, as are the staff. They are all clearly passionate about education and progress which is amazing to see.

Cllr Sheikh Ullah

Dear Kash

Thank you for hosting Amanda Milling MP, Chairman of the Conservative Party, and myself at Moor End Academy last week.  We were both hugely impressed by the positive attitude of all the staff and students we saw. It was very inspiring to see the enthusiastic engagement in the classes we saw first-hand.

Jason McCartney MP - Member of Parliament for Colne Valley

Mr Rafiq, thank you for taking time out to seeing me today. It was good to see how enthusiastic both you and your staff are as educators. It was inspiring to see the dedication of your staff, discipline of your students and the respect they give to their educators. I was awestruck to see the positive behaviour within the classrooms and the enthusiasm of your students to learn and achieve. I found the classrooms plastered with positivity and the hallways full of inspirational quotes on the vision and values of the school. I was particularly impressed to see the 5 phase teaching plan that every teacher was following which showed structure and consistency.

M Shafiq - Member of the community

Behaviour and attitudes across the Academy are exemplary, both in lessons and on corridors. Students are respectful and polite to each other and to visitors, including me. They make you feel welcome and engage well with you when talking about their learning. They are a genuine credit to themselves and a joy to work with.

M. West - MEA School Improvement Advisor and Principal of Temple Moor Academy

During visits to lessons, pupils were on task and focused, and overall lessons were calm and purposeful. Staff and pupils are extremely positive about the changes since the Principal arrived. Staff feel well supported, valued and feel they are being invested in as professionals. Pupils overwhelmingly agreed they were proud to be a pupil at this school and believed teachers care about them and want the very best for them.
