Kamran Ayub - Assistant Principal

Kamran grew up in the Whalley Range area of Blackburn and knows first-hand the challenges some young people can face. As a Looked After Child he overcame adversities and attributes his success to his foster parents. He is a proud product of resilience and hard work.

Having successfully completed his GCSEs and A levels Kamran moved to Leeds in 2004 to pursue a degree in Health related Exercise and Fitness. During his time at University he took part in a Mentoring programme across a variety of secondary schools. He was able to motivate, inspire and guide students during their GCSE years which led to the start of his journey as an educator…

Having successfully completed his degree Kamran became a qualified fitness instructor and personal trainer. Alongside this, he coordinated and led a successful youth club working with Young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Kamran decided to pursue a career as an educator and started as a HLTA in a multi-cultural inner-city Leeds school. Such was his desire to educate, within a year he fulfilled the requirements to become a Qualified Teacher of English. As a natural leader with a clear vision for positive change he took on the role of SENDCo in 2013. In this role he was able to significantly raise the profile of SEND which was duly noted by an OFSTED report:

“The SENDCo has introduced new ways of assessing the progress of pupils… Assessments now provide teachers with information highlighting each pupil’s strengths and what pupils need to improve. Leaders now evaluate the impact of this support so that they know what is working and what needs to be changed. This meticulous approach is accelerating the progress of pupils who have SEN and/or disabilities.”

During his 8 years as a SENDCo he has developed a wealth of knowledge and expertise around supporting students from challenging backgrounds with significant needs. He now has the opportunity to continue Lead and drive excellence at Moor End Academy as Assistant Principal.

“I am passionate about removing barriers to learning to help students fulfill their potential. Ensuring students’ holistic needs are understood and they are given opportunities to develop wider skills to prepare them for the ‘real world’ is a priority of mine. I plan to motivate and inspire the young people at Moor End to become the leaders of tomorrow.”

In his spare time, Kamran enjoys staying active and keeping fit. He enjoys following most sports and is a devoted Manchester United fan. Most of all he loves spending time with his family and two young children.
