Moor End Academy

School Direct

Train with us - Become a leader of tomorrow!

Introduction

Moor End Academy is the outstanding lead school in the South Pennine Academies Trust offering employment-based, yearlong placements within the Trust to Trainees on the programme. The Trust works across Kirklees, Calderdale and Oldham, having three Secondary schools, six Primary schools and two Pre-Schools. Two of the Primary schools are brand new Free schools, with Beaumont Primary Academy based in a multi million pound school and Brambles due to be in a brand new build by September 2019.

The programme has a long and successful track record of teacher training, and is accredited by the Huddersfield Horizon SCITT.

Our programme offers School Direct placements on a salaried and non-salaried basis, catering for both primary and secondary trainees across the trust.

The government decides the number of places available for courses. Therefore, it is recommended that candidates apply earlier, to avoid disappointment.

 Why moor end

Our school offers a culture of exceptional behavior, with inquisitive and ambitious children who take responsibility for their learning and actions. Our welcoming staff and the children within it fully realise our ethos: Respect. Ambition. Responsibility.

Moor end offer a wealth of experience to those on the programme, having successfully trained teachers for a number of years. Our graduates are ambitious, resilient and ready to face head on the challenges of becoming a future school leader.

During the course of your training, you will be assigned a mentor to coach and guide you during the process – our programme offers an enthusiastic, encouraging and outstanding cohort of experienced staff to help you realise your potential in teaching.

We are a strategic partner of the Pennine Teaching School and we work closely with many of the schools in the Alliance, using their schools (in addition to our own Trust schools) to train and mentor our trainees. The Teaching School also organises the Special Educational needs placement which our trainees have as part of their school based experience.

Moor End Academy values its staff and their progression. I joined the school as an NQT in September 2017. Since then, I have received regular, tailored and ambitious CPD opportunities. This coupled with support from our encouraging SLT, which subsequently led to myself having the experience and confidence required to deliver Trust-wide CPD sessions and take on my first TLR responsibility within my first year! If you are looking for a new challenge and see leadership in your future, consider our school.

Our School

Moor end operates a clear and well-founded ethos: Respect. Ambition. Responsibility. The school day consists of 6 lessons of varying length. Every lesson follows a Five-Part template. Each phase in the lesson stretches, challenges or provides an opportunity to practice new skills. our students benefit from excellent teaching every day, every lesson which develops independence, creativity, innovation and risk taking.

Our most recent external consultant review by Lead consultant appointed by the SPA, Christine Schofield:

“Behaviour in lessons was exemplary: all teachers were able to get on with teaching and pupils with learning.”

“Systems are in place to use outcomes of learning walks to provide effective CPD.”

“Relationships between teachers and pupils are good, creating a very positive environment for learning.”
