Middle Leaders
Michael Barrett - Curriculum Leader of Mathematics
Michael left school at the age of 16 and completed a-levels in Mathematics, Geography and Physical Education. Following this Michael got a job working as a Quantity Surveyor in Wakefield alongside completing a BSC Hons degree in Quantity Surveying at Sheffield Hallam University.
After working in the construction industry for five years it was time to decide whether to continue or pursue his passion for Mathematics. Ever since a young age Michael has had a talent for mathematics and it just made sense to make the best use of this was through educating our future leaders. Everything pointed towards a career in teaching!
Michael began his teacher training here at Moor End in 2014 and has stayed ever since! Whilst honing his skills as a Teacher of Mathematics he has undertaken roles with additional responsibilities including Duke of Edinburgh award lead and as part of the learning and teaching team. More recently Michael has held roles as Assistant Curriculum Leader for Mathematics and now Curriculum Leader for Mathematics.
Sport has always played a huge part in his life, if he's not playing sport, he's probably watching sport! Since his daughters were born in 2018 and 2021, Michael spends the majority of his leisure time with his family. Although, he still finds time to watch his beloved football teams of Huddersfield Town and Emley AFC.
