Middle Leaders
Holly-Marie Southwell - Subject Leader of Physical Education
Holly is a sport enthusiast who has been working at Moor End Academy since 2018. After leaving school at 16, Holly studied A-Levels in Physical Education, Drama and BTEC Sport Level 3. She then went on to study a BA Honours degree in Physical Education at Leeds Beckett University where she received a 2:1. After studying in Leeds for 3-years Holly went on to do her Teacher Training back home at Sheffield Hallam University. Once Holly received QTS, she then started a Teacher of PE role at Moor End Academy in September 2018.
Holly’s love of sport and physical activity is what has led her into a career in teaching. She loves to share that with her students and strives to create inclusive, engaging and fun lessons for all of her students to enjoy. As a leader, Holly wants all of her department to share this passion and this year your child will be experiencing brand new lessons across all sporting activities as all of the schemes of work have been updated. This is to ensure we are providing our students with the most engaging, exciting and challenging PE lessons that they will remember in life after MEA. It is really important to Holly and the PE department that your child understands the importance of following an active healthy lifestyle and what benefits sport and physical activity have on both the body and mind.
Holly is part of a competitive netball team outside of the Academy which she has done since the age of 11. During her childhood, Holly was also a keen kickboxer and now enjoys walking, going to the gym, skiing with her husband and socialising with friends and family in her spare time.
