Emma Peel – Subject Leader of Geography
Emma graduated from The University of Sheffield with a Geography BSc (Hons) Degree in 2008. She then completed a Graduate Retail Programme with Boots and went into a career of Pharmacy Management. However, teaching was always the career she really wanted to have so she went back to University and qualified as a Geography teacher in 2014 with a PGCE from The University of Cumbria. She has spent the last five years at a school in Derby teaching KS3, GCSE and A-Level before moving to Moor End Academy in July 2019 to take up her first Subject Leader role. Emma has already made some changes to drive the department forward with engaging schemes of work, new resources and a passion for teaching her subject. She is committed to giving students at Moor End Academy an understanding of the world they live in, an interest in following current geographical events and a GCSE result they can be proud of.
As a Geographer with a specialism in Physical Geography, Emma loves the outdoors, travelling and seeing the world. Through teaching she has been lucky enough to visit some amazing places including Iceland.
Emma is very passionate about football and her hometown team of Burnley. Her first job at the age of 14 was selling refreshments at Turf Moor during football games.
