Alex Kalischer – Joint Curriculum Leader of PE
Alex Kalischer grew up on a diet of sport playing competitive football and rugby since the age of 6. In his early teens he represented Leeds City Boys and Bradford City AFC. He also captained Otley Town AFC and went onto play senior football at the club for over a decade. His passion for sport led him to study Sport and Exercise Science at John Moores University where he continued to play representative football.
Whilst studying at University he began coaching and secured work in America for 4 consecutive summers. After graduation he studied a PGCE at Exeter University and returned to West Yorkshire to start his teaching career. After completing his induction year Alex retuned to the USA where he worked as a PE teacher and football coach in Washington DC for 6 months. Upon his return he was offered a role at a school in Leeds before starting his Moor End Career, September 2013.
During his time at Moor End he gained valuable leadership experience as Head of House, taking on additional responsibilities and contributed to a thriving extra-curricular program. He developed and implemented a progressive assessment model which gave students clear targets on how to improve. He was appointed Assistant Curriculum Leader in 2015 and then assumed his current role as joint Subject Leader of PE the year after.
He is a lifelong Leeds United fan and is hoping for a return to the Premier League this season. He enjoys travelling to other countries in school holidays and keeping fit in his spare time.
