The Mayor Visits Moor End Academy

On Thursday 6th December 2018, a team of five Y10 pupils from MEA took part in the Premier League Enterprise Challenge; a real business challenge run by the Premier League to encourage more young people to attend Premier League football matches. The event was held at the John Smith’s Stadium, home of Huddersfield Town FC. The team pitched their idea to judges including Sean Jarvis, Commercial Director at HTFC. Competing against 5 other teams from the Kirklees area, our team was triumphant and were crowned the Kirklees winners, much to our delight!

The Mayor was so impressed by the calibre of our students that she said she wanted to visit the academy which these students had come from. So, on Tuesday 12 February 2019 we had some very special visitors … Councillor Gwen Lowe and her Consort came to our Y10 assembly to present students with their certificates and gave a thought provoking speech about ambition. Our Head Boy and Head Girl presented an overview of academy life before taking the Mayor and her Consort on a tour; the Mayor was impressed by all the changes which have taken place and thanked the academy for “such a warm welcome”.
