Examiner Awards

Following on from over a year of rapid improvements and multiple success stories,
MEA were nominated for two awards in The Huddersfield Examiner School Awards, held at Kirklees College. These were ‘Secondary School of the Year’, and ‘Secondary Headteacher of the Year’. On 3rd July, representatives from Moor End Academy attended the ceremony, alongside colleagues from schools across Huddersfield.

After a formal three-course meal, and introduction from local celebrity newsreader
Harry Gration from Look North, the tension rose and the awards began…

The reasons for each nomination, and the passionate reception speeches of the
winners, clearly demonstrated the drive for excellence in education in Huddersfield
schools. It was both inspiring and humbling to hear so many stories of achievement and
overcoming obstacles and – even though we were not winners this time – we are excited to return next year and take the prize!
