Environmental Awareness
As part of their ASDAN work on “Environmental Awareness”, the Achieve Group decided to try and improve the school garden as it was looking rather neglected. They cleared and prepared 2 of the raised beds using environmentally sustainable methods and then planted a variety of vegetables, herbs and flowers, some of which were chosen to encourage certain insects such as bees. Each week during the summer term they went out and watered and weeded to ensure everything that had been planted was
given the best opportunity to grow. One of the greatest successes was the sunflowers, many of which grew to over two metres tall!
The Achieve Group wishes to continue to look after this area and improve it further in the coming year. To help with this we are collecting the Morrisons “It’s Good to Grow” vouchers so that we can purchase some better equipment. If you would like to help with this please bring any vouchers to student reception or look online at https://www.itsgoodtogrow.co.uk where there are details on how you can
register to donate your vouchers online if you have a MyMorrisons account.
