BBC Young Reporters 2019

On Wednesday 6th March 2019, 20 students from Y8 took part in the BBC’s annual Young Reporter day where they were given the opportunity to develop journalistic skills and tell stories that matter to them. From sourcing, writing, fact checking and recording articles on subjects as diverse as International Women’s Day to concentration camps in China, the group worked tirelessly throughout the day. One of the participants Libby Rhodes said: “It is great to work creatively and to learn about the world while gaining a new set of skills.” Mr Melhuish, who led the day, was proud and impressed by the students’ commitment to independent learning, collaboration and response to looming deadlines!
